Item description

Ancient painting, oil on canvas, depicting San Gerolamo in the penitent desert, attributed to Pietro Muttoni (Pietro Della Vecchia), seventeenth century. The painting depicts the saint in his iconic laying of penance, accompanied by typical elements such as candle and book. It is an important and complete work, coming from a private Bolognese collection. The painting was restored and reined, and is mounted on a majestic frame, ancient but not coeval, in gold leaf.
