Karelia armchair in white vinyl by Liisi Beckmann for Zanotta, 1960s
First model of the Karelia armchair, designed by Liisi Beckmann in 1966 for Zanotta. The armchair features its original white vinyl upholstery. One of the first armchairs without a structure, made entirely of polyurethane foam. The soft wavy surface draws inspiration from the designer’s homeland, the Republic of Karelia in Finland, dotted with inlets and gulfs. The new textile upholstery replaces the vinyl of the 70s.
