Item description

Oil on canvas. Landscape centered on the entrance to a large cave, inside which a couple is being ambushed by a group of bandits. The frame bears an attribution to Massimo D\'Azeglio: the artist of this landscape undoubtedly drew inspiration from the style of the politician and patriot, who was also a painter and writer, and who often painted scenes reflecting the political and social situation of his time, such as the problem of banditry. The painting is presented in a period frame.
