Elegant desk made of solid walnut wood, characterized by a solid structure and classic proportions. The design recalls the "fratina" models of the Italian Renaissance, reinterpreted with the eclectic taste typical of the Umbertine period or the early twentieth century.
Top: Rectangular on a single axis with finished edges.
Undercounter: Features two functional front drawers, enriched with relief tiles and original brass vents with decorative tassels. The edge under the top is decorated with a refined frame carved with geometric motifs.
Base: The piece rests on two sturdy "lyre" supports finely carved with curl motifs and floral/foliage decorations on the sides. The supports are connected by a central crosspiece visible from the external wooden pins, which guarantees extreme stability.
An element of exceptional rarity is the secret compartment created in the vertical body beneath the top. Unlike the classic front flaps, this compartment is hidden in the bottom panel: once the key is activated, the vertical section flips over and opens revealing a large protected space. This "hidden" system was typical of high-end cabinet-making study furniture, designed to store maps, notarial documents or valuables in total discretion.
