French bronze from the second half of the 19th century
made on the model of the "Horses of Marly"
by the French sculptor Guillaume Coustou (Lyon, 29/11/1677 – Paris, 22/02/1746)
The original sculptures, in white Carrara marble,
were commissioned in 1743 by Louis XV to adorn
the Abreuvoir de Marly and installed only two years later
The wild steed, adorned with all the harness,
he is barely held by the bridle by a young squire
The casting, rich in details and of excellent workmanship,
It has a beautiful burnished patina.
