Floor lamp designed by Italian architect Sergio Asti in 1968 and produced by Candle as part of the "Venticinque" series.
The series consists of three models: the venticinque D758 fixed lamp 110cm high, the venticinque junior table lamp and the one proposed here which is the venticinque Senior code D728 or the only one with an extendable stem with a height that can be set between 120 and 170 cm.
This lamp was selected for the Compasso D'Oro award in 1970.
Candle was a very active lighting company based in Milan, which was later acquired by Fontana Arte.
The height of the lamp is adjustable and the stem rotates completely around its axes. The lampshade also rotates so that the light can be aimed downwards or upwards, but it also has a small hole so that some light also pours in the opposite direction creating a uniform and harmonious lighting.
Sergio Asti was one of the most important interior designers and architects in Italy and signed the project for this lamp in 1968 during his collaboration with Candle.
In the photos of the advertisement you will find the 1983 Candle catalog page where the lamp which was still in production in those years is advertised.
The example for sale dates back to the 1980s, it is in perfect condition as can be seen from the photos, the chrome plating only has some very small, almost invisible blooms and is completely compatible with the age of the lamp.
The foot switch is original, but the plug has been replaced.
