Item description

Small oil painting by ITALO BIGATTI (Brescia) SPRING 1982. Italo Bigatti was born in Lodi on 18 July 1933, but has settled in Brescia for a very long time. In the 1960s he attended Franco Bertuili's prestigious "Bottega" in Brescia, a point of reference for local figurativism. Subsequently he perfected his technique in the studies of Alberto Bizzai and Professor Ramorino. He made his debut with his first solo exhibition in Brescia in 1974 (at the Galleria d'arte del Carro). From that moment he was very active, participating in numerous competitions and events not only in Brescia, but also in Rome, Naples, Bergamo and Borgosesia. "Spring" (1982). Bigatti is known for being a "fine and elegant" painter, capable of treating natural subjects with an extremely delicate hand. The Technique of 1982: In those years, his painting was characterized by a very careful atmospheric rendering. The theme of "Spring" is perfect for his sensitivity: the use of material brushstrokes for the flowers (like the ones you see on your table) was his way of giving vitality and light to the landscape. In addition to his spring landscapes, he is known for his alpine and hilly views (such as the famous series on the Monte Baldo pine forest), always executed with a poetic realism much appreciated by Lombard collectors. Curiosity and Value The fact that the work is signed and dated on the back, with the title indicated, confirms the care that Bigatti put into cataloging his works. His "tablets" from the 1980s are highly sought after locally due to their ability to furnish with a "fresh" and never heavy brightness. Having a Bigatti from 1982 means owning a piece of the history of Brescian painting from the second half of the twentieth century. It is a painting that dialogues very well with the tradition of the "reality painters" of the area.
