Ancient French painting from the second half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas work, first canvas, depicting an ancient reinterpretation of the famous masterpiece by Nicolas Lancret (1690-1743), Children playing in the open air. Mirror painting compared to the original with a slightly different setting, decidedly brighter. Beautiful non-coeval wooden frame, pleasantly carved, gilded and painted (see photo).
High quality painting, note the painter's skill in representing the expressions and movements of the children intent on carefree play. Painted with still very bright colors with numerous small drops of color (see photo). On the right side, compared to the original, three children were not included in this work to make the composition more graceful (see photo).
Work in patina that presents only sporadic and small conservative restoration interventions that have occurred over time. To be enjoyed in its current state or to be restored to best preserve its state of conservation. Overall in good condition with small discolouration. Light painting H 83 x W 125 cm.
