Large religious painting from the 17th century. Oil work on canvas depicting a splendid Holy Family in a domestic interior. The Madonna is seated in a central position while holding a book, absorbed in reading. The baby Jesus is standing in front of her and clings to his mother's hand with an affectionate gesture.
On the right, Saint Joseph is caught in a moment of rest, dozing and with his head bowed. Joseph's sleep is a symbol of the contemplative dimension and trust in the divine plan, which often presents itself in the form of a dream. On the left, a lit candle introduces another symbolic element, Christ is in fact the light of the world. Finally, the basket of white clothes that we see below is not a mere domestic detail but a reference to the purity of the Virgin. Painting with a compact and intimate composition, of great pictorial quality, attributable to the coveted central Italian area of the first half of the seventeenth century.

Perfect painting for refined, classic or contemporary environments, ideal for collectors of sacred paintings from the high period. Work already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small spots. Overall in good state of conservation. Painting light H 88 x W 70.5 cm.
