Important Italian painting from the mid-18th century. Oil work on canvas depicting a suggestive landscape animated by peasant figures and animals near a watercourse. A painting of notable pictorial quality, set according to a refined perspective construction that leads the gaze towards a hilltop village dominated by a tower.
The scene, lively articulated, presents a young female figure flanked by travelers and herds, in a narrative balance typical of eighteenth-century northern Italian painting. The work reveals clear affinities with the production of Francesco Antoniani (1700-1775), in particular for the spatial setting and the fusion between view and genre scene (the painting is not currently accompanied by expertise, but it is possible to request it upon payment of the relevant additional costs). Starting from 1743, he served at the House of Savoy, becoming one of the protagonists in the decoration of the Piedmontese royal residences. He was famous for his landscapes, seascapes and architectural caprices and his technique is characterized by lively brushwork and refined plays of light. Painting that is part of a pendant (see photo and ask for the price of the pair if still available)
