Italian painting from the second half of the 19th century. Oil on canvas work of great size and impact depicting an interior scene, mother with children of excellent pictorial quality. Painting adorned with a fabulous coeval frame from the Napoleon III era, richly sculpted, gilded and lacquered. Painting characterized by the presence of numerous details, note the amazing wooden basket woven with fruit (see photo).
Domestic animals enrich the scene, a cat in a corner, a dog with a red bow impatiently waiting for the morsel in the child's hands (see photo), hens and chicks below. The young mother, the protagonist in her role and elegance in the painting, turns her gaze towards the viewer.
The youngest child, at his mother's feet, plays with a pomegranate. Below on the floor, between the dog and the chicks, there is an L. Galli signature (see photo), referable to the famous painter Luigi Mauro Giuseppe Galli (1820-1900), lacking additional documentation. Work that has undergone a conservative restoration with relining, replacement of the frame and recovery of color in small spots (see photo). Frame that has undergone restoration with replacement of the decoration in the internal golden corner at the top left (see photo). Overall in good condition. Light painting H 67.5 x W 93.5 cm.
