Description: Ancient oil painting on canvas with a contemporary frame depicting a view of the Gulf of Naples belonging to the second half of the 19th century. The work shows a classic view of the Gulf of Naples attributable to the rich artistic tradition of the Posillipo School. In the foreground the scene is dominated by some traditional boats while in the background the unmistakable profile of Naples develops. On the right side of the background the silhouette of Vesuvius stands out, an inevitable element and iconographic signature of these views. Provenance: Naples, early 19th century.
