These chairs designed by Thomas Harlev have a feature that is immediately noticeable: the backrest almost seems to draw a smile. It is probably this detail that makes them so recognizable, but also explains why, despite their light proportions, they are particularly comfortable to use every day.
The teak structure builds clean and very soft lines, with continuous fittings that lighten the profile of the chair without making it lose presence. The curved back naturally accompanies the posture, while the new light blue fabric introduces a brighter and more contemporary note, creating a very elegant contrast with the warm tones of the wood.
Around a table these chairs work particularly well because they can do two things together: take up little visual space and maintain a very defined presence. It is probably this combination of comfort, lightness and organic design that made Harlev's designs among the most recognizable of Danish production of those years.
