This table produced by Randers Møbelfabrik changes character depending on how it is used. When closed it appears compact, almost sculptural, with the round shape that immediately highlights the design of the floor and the richness of the rosewood. Open, on the other hand, it acquires a different presence: wider, more convivial, more suitable for large tables.
Rosewood is probably the first thing that catches the eye. Dark surfaces reflect light continuously, while grain runs across the plane creating natural variations that make the wood particularly deep and textured. It's one of those materials that never stays the same: it changes throughout the day, it changes depending on the light, it changes when viewed from different angles.
The shape helps to make the table very visually balanced, lightening the important presence of the material. The two extensions then allow it to be easily transformed into an oval configuration, maintaining continuity in the design and significantly increasing the capacity of use.
It is one of those tables that manage to be simultaneously elegant, solid and very simple to live on a daily basis: a quality that explains well why many Danish rosewood tables continue to be so sought after today.
