This is a wooden reliquary or urn from Nice, designed to house and protect individual sculptures or groups of sacred sculptures.
It has a triangular upper tympanum reminiscent of the facades of classical churches.
Side columns: Two turned wooden columns frame the glass front panel.
Sacred interior: Clad with red fabric curtains, typical of Catholic liturgical furnishings.
This type of furniture was used in private chapels, sacristies or above altars to house:
the Blessed Sacrament (like a true tabernacle),
relics of saints,
small devotional statuettes or precious crucifixes.
