Splendid and rare oil painting on canvas from 1936 by the painter Raimondo Mezzanotte, signed and dated in orange by the artist on the bottom right ("Raimondo Mezzanotte 1936").
The work represents a view of extraordinary historical and documentary value of the coast and marina of Pescara before the massive urbanization of the post-war period. From the raised perspective of the pristine dunes, the silhouettes of the historic seaside facilities of the time stand out in the background, including the characteristic turret of the Kursaal establishment (later known as Arlecchino), which was later destroyed during the tragic war events.
The painter demonstrates a very fine chiaroscuro and atmospheric sensitivity in the rendering of the golden and pink reflections of the sunset reflected on the calm sea, typical of the great tradition of the Italian landscape of the early twentieth century.
The work is embellished with a beautiful period frame in worked dark wood, perfectly contemporary to the painting, which enhances its brightness and spatial depth. The pictorial surface presents a fascinating and natural craquelure due to time, which attests to its authenticity and first patina. Provenance from a private collection.
