Ancient monumental tureen in Umbertine style from the end of the 19th century. Splendid and imposing period tureen in hard white earthenware (opaque porcelain), produced by the famous Società Ceramica Richard in the historic factory of San Cristoforo (Milan). The piece dates back to the end of the nineteenth century, in the period between 1873 (the year of the foundation of the Richard Ceramics Company) and 1896, the year of the historic merger with the Tuscan factory Ginori.
Under the base it features the rare period mark printed in black with the rampant lion and the crusader banner. Next to the stamp, the trademarks dry-imprinted directly into the ceramic paste before firing are clearly visible: the fraction 5 ½ (which indicates the size and the impressive size scale in the original catalog of the time) and the production numbers 8 and 6.
