Item description

Refined centerpiece stand (or bonbon holder) in fine French Limoges porcelain, made by the renowned manufacturer William Guérin & Co. between approximately 1891 and 1910. The object stands out for the formal elegance typical of the Napoleon III style. The upper plate features a complex workmanship with pods in relief along the brim, enriched by a sumptuous threaded border and floral decorations in pure gold. The wavy brim is characterized by a very rare and delicate nuanced Celadon Green shade or poetically a particular Eau de Nil shade, which slopes gently towards the pure white of the centre. This colour, typical of the most refined productions of the late nineteenth century, creates a magnetic contrast with the rich decorations in pure gold and the polychrome bouquet. In the center, a polychrome floral bouquet in bright tones breaks the whiteness of the white porcelain, known for its exceptional translucency. The central decoration features a botanical bouquet with irises and wildflowers. Note the chromatic finesse of the petals and the delicate highlights, typical of the naturalistic style of the Belle Époque. The tripod base is finely chiselled with acanthus leaf decorations and curls of exquisitely French taste. The metal frame has a splendid original patina that highlights its age and quality craftsmanship. The coordinated top handle reflects the style of the base, giving impetus and practicality to the object. NOTES ON THE MANUFACTURING: William Guérin & Co. was one of the most prestigious manufacturers in Limoges, famous for the superior quality of its hard paste and for the decorations carried out internally in its own ateliers. His pieces are today sought after for the perfect preservation of the gilding and the finesse of the design. Conservation status: The object is in excellent vintage condition. The porcelain has no chipping, fraying or restorations. The pure gold finishes are extraordinarily well preserved, maintaining their original brilliance even on the parts in relief. There are slight and physiological signs of aging on the metal frame, which attest to its authenticity and era. TECHNICAL DATA SHEET: Origin: Limoges, France. Brand: William Guérin & Co.
