Item description

Type: Coffee table finished on all four sides (center of the room) that can be used as a small writing desk. Under-counter band: It houses a concealed front drawer, perfectly integrated into the ornamental motif so as not to interrupt the visual continuity of the inlay. The sides and back faithfully replicate the same decoration as the front. Supports: The piece rests on four slender, typically neoclassical, inverted pyramid-shaped legs (pin legs). They are slightly tapered at the top and terminate in small plinth feet. Cabinetmaking Materials and Techniques The piece cleverly uses the color contrast between different wood types: Base wood: Rosewood, which serves as a contrast to highlight the light-colored elements. Inlays: Made of boxwood. Trim: rosewood Decorative Appearance The Top The top is the decorative centerpiece of the piece and is organized according to a rigid, geometric neoclassical symmetry: Central Medallion: An elegant oval reserve encloses a classical figurative motif: a mythological or allegorical bird (an eagle or a phoenix with outstretched wings) clutching an olive/laurel branch in its beak, resting on a composition of trophies, plant elements, and a drum/shield. Geometric Borders: The oval is inscribed within a series of concentric frames. The innermost band is rosewood, while the outermost band is walnut. Perimeter Frieze: A splendid outer band runs along the edges of the rectangle, decorated with a continuous motif of stylized acanthus leaves. The Under-Top Panel and Drawers A refined decoration of vegetal and plant-like swirls (volutes of leaves and tendrils) extends along all four sides, arranged symmetrically from a central element. The front drawer features two small brass knobs. The Legs Each leg is embellished with a light longitudinal trim that slims its line, highlighting its edge and creating a sharp geometric contrast with the dark silhouette of the solid wood. Dimensions: 80.5 x 50 cm, height 73.5 cm.
