This folding secretary desk is a faithful reproduction in Louis XV style, made during the 20th century revival (approximately between the 1920s and the 1950s). It is a piece of furniture of excellent craftsmanship, very common in the homes of the Italian bourgeoisie of the twentieth century. Characteristics of the Revival piece of furniture Style and Line: It recalls the typical wavy silhouette of the French Louis Inlay Technique: The dark panels contrast with the floral motifs made in light woods (such as maple or fruit woods). Unlike the furniture of the eighteenth century, which used thick slabs of noble wood made by hand, the productions of the twentieth century can be recognized by the use of thinner veneers and briar sheets, cut mechanically. Metal Elements: The handles and the lock recall baroque and rococo motifs, but are industrial fusions typical of the last century.
