A splendid and rare pair of Italian coffee tables from the 1950s, known in the world of modern antiques and period design as
"spider tables" due to the characteristic slender, curved shape of their legs.
These tables feature a refined and elegant tripod structure in solid beech with a mahogany stain, with shaped legs that intersect in the center. The top is composed of a circular wooden frame enclosing an original clear glass top embellished with a delicate acid-etched floral motif (a central rose surrounded by tendrils and buds).
This sculptural and ethereal style strongly recalls the work and influences of the great designers of the time, such as Cesare Lacca, Carlo
De Carli, and Paolo Buffa.
They are in perfect condition, having recently been professionally restored.
The etched glass tops are in excellent condition, and although they are original, being placed flat, they can easily be replaced with simpler ones if you don't like their beautiful, vintage floral etched decoration.
They are not easily found individually; pairs are very rare.
Very versatile, they can be used either as side tables or placed side by side as focal points in front of a sofa or in the middle of a living room.
