An elegant and sumptuous pair of Genoese mahogany armchairs (attributable to Peter), dating from the Empire to Charles X periods, dating from the early 19th century.
In addition to the beautiful proportions and the high quality of the cabinetry and sculpture, this pair of armchairs is certainly characterized by the two dolphin-shaped armrests, with the open tail connecting the backrest and the head connecting the seat. A rare detail is the scales on the inside of the armrest curve.
In addition to the beautiful carved frieze above the backrest panel, there are two small scrolls connecting the panel to the backrest.
The two front legs are very elegant and embellished with "torcillon" workmanship.
Both the backrest and seat are padded and upholstered in Golden Yellow velvet and finished with braid.
The condition is very good, considering its age, with an original patina, a sound structure, and small, imperceptible losses on the bottom of the twists, along with the inevitable signs of use that add to its charm.
The padding is good, and the velvet fabric shows no cuts or losses, but only a little wear, so it could be considered for replacement.
