The set of eight Model 23 chairs, designed by Henning Kjærnulf for Korup Stolefabrik, is a Danish design from the 1960s. Crafted entirely of teak, the chairs are distinguished by a well-proportioned frame and a distinctively designed backrest, where the woodwork becomes the defining element. The choice of compact proportions allows for a large number of seats to be arranged around a table while maintaining a balanced overall effect. The eight-piece set is particularly suited to a large dining room, but the simple design also lends itself to contemporary interiors. A significant example of mid-twentieth-century Danish design, in which the quality of the teak and meticulous craftsmanship define a recognizable presence without resorting to superfluous decorative elements.
