Baroque tabernacle in carved and gilded wood, 17th century
Beautiful and rare reliquary datable to around the second half of the 17th century in the middle of the Baroque period, made of finely carved wood and gilded with gold leaf. The sculpted decoration emerges from a background decorated with imitation marble. Note the richness of the carving with curly scrolls and two cherubs' heads standing out above the door. Beautiful antique patina of the gilding. Note the lack of a lock and the widespread presence of inactive woodworm holes. The tabernacle was recessed.
