Antique Italian painting from the 1600s. Oil on canvas work depicting biblical subject: Bathsheba at the bath. The sacred scriptures narrate that one day King David, walking on the terrace of his palace, sees Bathsheba and falls in love with her. She is the wife of Uriah, a soldier engaged in war, and David will have him fight in the front line. Uriah will die in battle and the king will be able to take the woman as his wife. Painting of great size and impact adorned with non-coeval carved and gilded wooden frame. Work depicting Bathsheba in the foreground accompanied by two handmaids on the right. King David is depicted on the balcony to the left in the intent to observe the young woman. Landscape in the background with architecture of excellent quality. Painting that has undergone intensive conservation restoration, rintelo, frame replacement, and color restoration in several places. In good state of preservation with signs of restoration. Light painting H 119 x W 171 cm.
