Item description
Old Flemish painting from the second half of the 17th century. Oil on canvas work depicting particular character, Flute Player with Dog of excellent painterly hand. Nicely sized and pleasantly decorated painting adorned with a finely carved and gilded non-coeval wooden frame. Frame shows some minor lack of decoration and some gilding (see photo), overall in good condition. Dark ground work with a difficult to find and very pleasant subject. Painting that has undergone conservative restoration with replacement of the frame, repainting in places and patches on the back of the canvas (see photo). Overall work in beautiful patina and in good state of preservation. Light painting H 81 x W 65 cm.
