Cesare Bentivoglio, Mountain landscape with church, oil on canvas, 1920s
A beautiful Italian oil on canvas painting from the early decades of the 20th century. A beautiful Italian landscape with a mountain village in the foreground with a church and mountains in the background. Signed by Cesare Bentivoglio, an important Italian artist. Perfect for collectors who love mountain landscapes. Excellent pictorial quality vivid colours that perfectly render the light of a beautiful sunny day. Sold with wooden frame. Cesare Bentivoglio (Genova 1868-1952) was a self-taught Ligurian painter, who frequented Antonio Varni and Giuseppe Sacheri when he was very young. His favourite subjects were seascapes, landscapes, views of ports, hunting scenes and the Dolomites. For unknown reasons, he always refused to participate in the Genoa Promotrici and, in general, to exhibit at any art exhibition. His works were appreciated by the Genoese bourgeoisie and beyond. In fact, his paintings, bought by foreign art dealers, reached France and England. From an early painting still linked to the Ligurian landscape painters, technically close to the experience of the 'Grey School', he arrived at a much more vivid use of colour, in the wake of post-impressionism. Framed 63 x 83 cm. Professionally packaged, insured shipping by courier, delivery by appointment only on street level.
