Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil on canvas painting depicting biblical subject, Sacrifice of Isaac, of good painterly hand. Painting of great size and impact, adorned with finely carved and gilded 20th century wooden frame. God, in order to test Abraham's faith, orders him to sacrifice his own son Isaac. The painting depicts the moment when an angel of the Lord descends to block Abraham's hand and shows him a ram to be immolated as a substitute sacrifice. A painting of good luminosity, the blue background creates an interesting contrast with the bright colours of the robes. The painter also inserts a foreshortening with architecture in the bottom left-hand corner (see photo). First canvas painting that has undergone conservative restoration and colour restoration in some places (see photo). In good condition. Light painting H 153 x W 103 cm.
