Empire mahogany feather console table with marble top, early 19th century
Antique French Empire console table belonging to the Consulate period of the early 19th century. The structure has a rigid rectangular shape covered entirely in mahogany feather with an oak interior and a white statuary marble top. The front is characterized by two caryatid-shaped pilasters in gilded wood terminated with feet, also gilded. The two rear columns end with Corinthian capitals in gilded wood. The base is rectangular in shape and rests on solid mahogany pad feet. Marble top is coeval. Restored by our master craftsmen using the traditional handmade shellac and alcohol method.
