An elegant modular rosewood bookcase with five cabinets, one of the finest mid-century Danish rosewood wall units, designed by Rud Thygesen and Johny Sorensen for Hansen & Guldborg in the 1960s. It features brilliant joinery and rich rosewood grain. It consists of: a cabinet with sliding doors H: 50 / W: 90 / D: 40 cm; chest of drawers with five drawers; H: 49.5 / W: 90 / D: 40 cm deep (the first two drawers are 4 cm high, the rest are 9.5 cm high); bar cabinet with adjustable shelves and tray; H: 40 / W: 90 / D: 30 cm; cabinet with sliding doors and adjustable shelf; H: 40 / W: 90 / D: 30 cm; cabinet with glass doors and adjustable shelf; H: 40 / W: 90 / D: 30 cm; 4 shelves 22 cm deep; 4 wooden rails 209 cm long; brass hardware.
This beautiful bookcase is entirely modular, all parts can be interchanged and assembled as desired, using an easy system of brass hangers and pins inserted into solid wood rails. The arrangement shown is just one example (in our opinion the most useful). We have considered that the bar cabinet can function as an elegant folding desk, or it can be used for both functions.
Fantastic vintage condition with slight signs of wear, such as a small chip on the glass door, small scratches on the tops and slight differences in the colour of the veneer. Rosewood is very reactive to light and the parts most exposed to UV rays fade much more quickly. The upper cabinet (with wooden doors) has a functional opening, e.g. for cables.
