The scene, rather dark and set outdoors, as inferred from the silhouettes of trees in the background, features some birds that are the result of the hunt, resting on the ground or hanging by their legs from branches. The painting harks back in style and subject matter to Felice Boselli (1650-1732), an Emilian painter best known for his still lifes, of which he made a hundred characterized mainly by game, fish and farm animals. Restored and restretched, the painting is presented in a readapted antique frame. Size without frame: 80 x 98 cm.
