Oil painting on canvas by Ottavio Steffenini (1889-1971) depicting an accordion player, 1930s. Signed lower right. Trace of a date, not legible. The Cuneo artist Ottavio Steffenini had a life on the move, divided between Italy, Europe and America, particularly Venezuela. A restless and unpredictable artist, he concentrated his painting mainly on female figures, portrayed with placid sensuality and an opulence influenced by the Spanish masters with whom he studied. But his production does not lack other subjects, united by an incessant exaltation of life, of nature. Here, however, a male figure is presented, a half-length portrait of an accordion player, dignified and proud in his pose and gaze. The work is presented in a style frame. Size without frame: 82 x 72 cm.
