Oil painting on canvas "Fantastic World" by Walter Visioli (Casalmaggiore, 1919 - Sondrio, 2009), 1975. Size without frame: 90 x 60 cm. Visioli reached the County of Bormio at the beginning of the 1960s, making it something more than his new homeland. He sang it with his poems proposed almost as a ceremonial in the most diverse situations and occasions. He did so right to the end, describing how much beauty he had discovered in this valley to the point of inventing, perhaps also to pay homage to it, one of the most prestigious prizes for extemporaneous painting, the Bormio County Prize. A competition that marked the artistic history of the Bormiese area and which was accompanied by the personal and human events of its patron, Visioli himself. A character from other times, a life lived intensely and told in those diary pages which are the volumes he published in which he reveals particular encounters, spicy backstories, VIPs and ordinary people. He, however, was no ordinary person: "When you can't have what you love... You have to love what you have!" he had written as a dedication on one of his books. Visioli loved his land so much, becoming a sort of actor and singer, through paintings and comics, poems and diary entries.
