Splendid Flemish painting of the first half of the seventeenth century. Oil work on canvas depicting a moment of the Passion of Christ, an exception of considerable pictorial quality. Exception Homo is the phrase that Ponzio Pilato, the Roman governor of Judea, pronounced showing the people flagellated Jesus. As if to say "here is the man, do you see that I punished him?", But we know that this was not enough and was crucified. In fact, we find Christ with the crown of thorns at the center of the composition, while a executioner binds his wrists violently. On the left, however, we see a man with a splendid turban and dark beard, probably identifiable with the priest of the temple. The expressive surrender of the faces, attention to detail and dramatic tension give the framework an extraordinary emotional intensity and refer to the late German Gothic tradition. Cake of the 20th century in carved and golden wood, of beautiful decoration, with some signs of the time. Work already restored with Rintelo, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small points. Overall in good conservative state. Painted light h 99 x l 76.5 cm
