Holy Family, oil Italian painting, 17th century
Gorgeous Italian painting in the second half of the seventeenth century. Oil work on canvas depicting a Holy Family with San Giovannino, of considerable pictorial quality. In the composition we find all the typical elements of this type of representations: the Madonna in the center that keeps in the womb of the Child Jesus while a graceful San Giovannino embraces him. On the left we find its iconographic elements, the cross with the cartouche "except agnus dei" and a wonderful lamb. In the background on the right we can see St. Joseph, often depicted on the sidelines but always present and participating. To underline the executive quality of the drapery and the wise use of light, which model the volumes creating depth. Cake of the nineteenth century in carved and golden wood, with some golden falls (see photo). Work already restored with Rintelo, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small points. It has some signs of the time, overall in good conservative state. Light painted H 113 x L 88 cm.
