Murano glass chandelier and brass by Barovier & Toso, Italy, 40s
A chandelier of refined beauty, made in Venice around 1940, this elegant appliance is attributable to Barovier & Toso. Its oval structure is built with murano glass rods elegantly curved and twisted, each element is blown by mouth to create delicate undulations and reflections in the crystalline form. Two cup glass speakers are set under the structure, gently spreading the light and accentuating the play of lights and textures. The load -bearing structure and the decorative accents are forged in golden brass and culminate in a central stem and in a glass rose window delicately worked on the ceiling. The original intertwined suspension cable and the patina on the chief attest to decades of authentic wear. With a width of 65 cm, a height of 100 cm and a depth of 20 cm, this chandelier emanates an untransable Venetian artisan skill and is ideal for capturing attention in entrances, dining rooms or salons.
