Item description

Pencil and white lead on paper. Signature and date at the bottom left. The name of the child portrayed, Nino, is written in pencil on the back. He belongs to the family from which the work originates. This drawing was made while still young (twenty-one years old) by the versatile artist, who established himself as a painter, illustrator (famous for his illustrations of works by D\'Annunzio and Pascoli), engraver, decorator, and photographer, and who was a leading figure in Italian idealist and symbolist art between the 19th and 20th centuries. The portrait has several stains and a small hole in the paper. It is presented in a contemporary frame, which is missing some parts.
