Pair of Imari porcelain plates, 19th century
This exceptional pair of imarious porcelain dishes, of considerable size, embodies the elegance and chromatic wealth typical of this renowned Japanese manufacture. The dishes have an octagonal shape with elegantly lobed edges, creating a sinuous and sophisticated profile. The decoration, performed in polychrome, is a magnificent example of the IMARI style. The design is divided into two distinct levels. In the center, a medallion contains a splendid floral composition, dominated by large leaves and stylized flowers painted in a lively cobalt blue under the nail polish. This central reason is enriched by floral details in iron and gold red, which add depths and brightness. The use of red, blue and gold is a distinctive signature of the IMARI porcelain, making these pieces immediately recognizable. The large external tense, also octagonal in shape, is decorated with a grid of alternating reserves and panels. These panels depict Kakiemon -style floral and vegetable motifs, characterized by more delicate and transparent use of color, in contrast with the saturation of the central medallion. The decorations are finished with gold profiles, which enhance every detail. The upper edges are characterized by a flounced shape with lobes that follow each other in the shape of a fan, decorated with stylized flowers and leaves. The back of the dishes reveals the quality and authenticity of the pieces. It is decorated with floral motifs and clouds painted in blue under nail polish.
