Splendid Spanish painting from the second half of the 19th century. Oil work on table signed at the bottom right Galgos, referable to the great Andalusian painter Josè Galgos y Arnosa (1857-1917). Known for the scenes of folkloric taste and for an extraordinary attention to details, his works had happened throughout Europe.
The style of this painting, the subject and the technique fully correspond to its production (the work is currently not accompanied by Expertise but it is possible to request it upon payment of the related additional costs). The picture captures a moment of popular celebration and has a flamenco dancer as protagonist, while music, dance and conviviality intertwine in an engaging and full of light atmosphere. The accurate yield of the figures, the chromatic brilliance and the narrative rhythm make it a composition of great impact.
The details are stunning and made with extreme care: to name some embroidered fabrics, the bottles on the set table, the enameled majolica on the wall. Elegant work and of considerable pictorial quality, suitable for enriching an important collection or embellishing a refined environment, bringing with it the warmth of the Andalusian tradition and the passion of flamenco.
Scenographic coeval frame in finely carved and golden wood, which also presents an inscription: Josè Galgos, Jerez de las Fronteras 1859, Madrid 1919 (see photo). Work already restored with color recovery in small points, overall in good conservative state. Painted light h 48 x l 60 cm.
