Wrought iron bed, 18th century
Period: 18th century (circa 1700s). Provenance: Genoese manufacture (Liguria, Italy). Material: Hand forged wrought iron. Decoration: Features a charming and well-preserved original lacquer with a dark reddish-brown base enriched with precious highlights and gold details, which enhance the scrolls and curves of the design. Design: The bed features an elaborate scroll and curl design, typical of the Baroque and Rococo style, which gives lightness and great visual impact. Headboard and Footboard: They are decorated with central cartouches. The Headboard features an oval medallion framed with a print depicting a sacred scene. The Pediera sports a large oval panel painted with an elegant still life composition, with fruit, flowers and a vase surrounded by golden floral motifs. Bronze Elements: The uprights are finished with gilded bronze details and spherical knobs. Structure: The front fascia of the frame is decorated with a stylized gold wave pattern, contrasting with the dark patina of the iron.
