This splendid panoramic landscape of Naples is not signed on the canvas, but on the frame there is a plaque with the writing G. Gigante. It is probably the work of the famous Italian landscape painter Giacinto Gigante (Naples, 1806–1876), without authentication.
This small painting captures the beauty of the landscapes surrounding Naples with a fantastic romanticism. The painted landscape suggests that it is a panorama of Naples captured from the Camaldoli hill. This area was much loved by nineteenth-century Neapolitan painters because from this hill you can enjoy a suggestive view of Naples and the surrounding mountains.
