Swedish 1960s "Z" model armchair, dark lacquered geometric structure and black velvet upholstery.
The model “Z” armchair designed by Bengt Ruda for Nordiska Kompaniet in the 1960s is an emblematic example of the most rigorous Scandinavian modernism. The lateral structure, which draws a clear broken line to form a "Z", defines the entire identity of the project: a strong, almost architectural graphic sign, which supports the seat and backrest with dynamic balance. The inclined profile accentuates the relaxed posture, while the integrated armrests continue fluidly into the supporting structure, underlining the formal unity of the piece. Bengt Ruda, central figure of post-war Swedish design and long-time creative director of Nordiska Kompaniet, developed research oriented towards clear structural forms and legible construction solutions. The “Z” fits fully into this production, where geometry becomes an expressive language and function translates into formal synthesis.
Good condition. It may show some signs of aging. Please pay attention to the photographs.
