Description of the Object: Refined small French commode from the Napoleon III era (second half of the 19th century), made of fine rosewood essence and enriched with floral inlays in exotic woods. The piece features the classic "a tombeau" shape moved on the front and sides, characterised by sinuous lines that give grace and dynamism to the structure.
Main Features:
Inlay and Materials: The front is marked by two large drawers entirely inlaid with phytomorphic and floral motifs, enclosed within threaded reserves. The wood grain is arranged "herringbone", creating a play of light and reflections typical of high-quality Parisian cabinetmaking.
Bronze Finishes: The cabinet is embellished with elegant gilded and chiseled bronze appliques: spool handles, finely crafted key entry vents, and foliage-shaped end shoes that decorate the "en cabriole" feet.
Floor: The upper floor consists of a slab of fine marble (veined in grey/cream hues) with a shaped and moulded "owl's beak" edge, perfectly consistent with the style of the piece.
State of Conservation: The furniture is in excellent general condition. Mirror polishing enhances the warm tones of the wood. Locks and keys present and working.
