Beautiful and elegant low Victorian showcase with two doors, also called "Pier Cabinet".
Nicely sized and beautifully made, it is made of walnut and walnut root, with four friezes on the uprights and the upper profile in gilded bronze.
Beautiful maple fillets surround the frame of the two glass doors and are also present in the crosspieces, low and high as on the two uprights.
In the center of the high crosspiece and the two uprights there are three important phytomorphic inlays with a small rose in the centre.
The top, "mirrored" in walnut root, has a black lacquered edge that surrounds it. , just as the four turned feet that support the showcase are black lacquered.
The interior has two shelves which in the front part are veneered in walnut and in the rear part lined in velvet like the entire internal hull and which form three internal support surfaces with the bottom, ideal for displaying books or collectibles.
The lock is functional, its original, like all the bronzes and like the two retractable latches on the left door.
Of English manufacture, it is Victorian in style and dates back to around 1860/1880.
The state of conservation, given the age, is excellent, with imperceptible signs of aging.
The structure is healthy and the only thing that needs to be looked at is the internal velvet which, despite having no tears or defects, does show wear.
