Solid pine bookcase with five adjustable shelves and full side supporting structure. Scandinavian production, mid-20th century.
Scandinavian bookcase from the mid-twentieth century made of solid pine, evidence of an essential Northern European production linked to the use of local materials. The structure is defined by full side shoulders and a series of adjustable shelves, set according to a regular rhythm that enhances the marked grain of the wood. The design, devoid of applied decorative elements, relies on the material quality of the pine and the clarity of construction. The whole reflects a more sober and functional phase of Scandinavian design, before the spread of teak, in which the soft wood was used directly and without mediation, maintaining an authentic and domestic character.
