This charming refectory table perfectly embodies the robust and functional aesthetics of traditional rustic furniture, probably created between the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. The structure stands out for the skilful use of solid wood, where the warm shade of chestnut combines with the materiality of raw beech, allowing a patina rich in history to emerge.
The element with the greatest character is undoubtedly the long support surface, which preserves the irregular and debarked edges of the original trunk, showing knots, natural cracks and ancient signs of wear, skilfully stabilized by a protective glossy finish. The support is entrusted to a solid trestle base with lyre legs, connected by a sturdy central crosspiece with a through axis and blocked at the ends by characteristic interlocking wooden wedges. Every construction detail, from the imperfections of the grain to the craftsmanship visible on the profiles, testifies to a craftsmanship of times gone by conceived to challenge the centuries and celebrate the authentic beauty of living wood.
