Item description

Decorative three-piece Rubens Ware art pottery garniture set by J. Hancock & Sons of Stoke-on-Trent, England, circa 1930s. The aptly named 'Pomegranate', comprising a hand-painted vase, jug, and shallow bowl executed in richly glazed cobalt blue tones with stylised pomegranate fruit decoration. The set display the vibrant coloration and painterly surface decoration characteristic of high-quality English art pottery of the late 1920s–1930s, combining lingering Arts & Crafts influence with emerging Art Deco sensibilities. The bold fruit motifs and saturated cobalt ground create a striking decorative presence while retaining the warmth and individuality of hand-painted studio production. The underside retains the original Rubens Ware backstamp together with hand-painted decorator attribution to F. X. Abraham. An elegant and highly collectible grouping suitable for traditional, maximalist, English country, or eclectic interiors. In excellent condition without damage.
