Oil on canvas. Signature and location Monza present at the bottom right. The Monza painter Eugenio Spreafico approached Verismo and Scapigliatura in 1881, becoming part of the group of Monza Realists, in which Moses Bianchi, Emilio Borsa and Pompeo Mariani stand out among others. His attention shifted towards landscape painting, in particular of Monza and the Lombard countryside, and towards social themes such as work in the fields, portraying workers immersed in nature, in a close figure-landscape relationship. Presented here is a glimpse of the Lombard countryside, green and wide.
