Set of three hand-painted wooden decorative potiche / boxes, made in Shanghai circa 1950s. The three elements have a rounded and compact shape, with a rounded body, circular base and removable upper cover. The surface, finished on a dark, almost black-blue background, is decorated with figurative scenes inspired by Chinese folk tradition.
The depictions show male, female and childish characters, painted within decorative reserves and medallions. The line is narrative, artisanal and slightly naive, with warm colors such as pink, ocher, orange and red, combined with light blue, black and dark tones. Each piece features a different decoration, making the set lively and very ornamental.
Perfect as decorative boxes, containers with lids, collectible pouches or accent objects for consoles, bookcases, sideboards, coffee tables and eclectic or Asian-inspired interiors.
Measurements: two large pieces 15 cm diameter x 18 cm height; one small piece 15cm diameter x 13cm height.
