Refined altar candlestick (or candle holder) dating back to the second half of the 19th century, a superb example of liturgical furnishings in the Eclectic-Neobaroque style.
The candlestick is structured according to the highest cabinetmaking and metallurgical tradition of the nineteenth century: a solid internal core made of solid wood guarantees stability to the artefact, entirely covered with a worked copper plate.
The feet and the applied decorations are cast bronze.
At the bottom of the tripod base you can see the original vintage assembly system with iron through pin and square clamping nut.
The top plate has a wooden insert that stabilizes the central wrought iron taproot.
The artefact stands out for the extraordinary chromatic contrast between the dark part in oxidized silver and the sumptuous decorative applications in gilded and chiseled bronze.
On the main faces of the base stand out the emblem of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, flaming and surrounded by the crown of thorns, and a heraldic-religious monogram surmounted by a radiant crown.
The upper edges are embellished with finely carved three-dimensional winged cherubs, from which garlands and festoons of flowers descend.
The base is finished with an elegant bottom edge of continuous podding with geometric plant motifs.
The upper part ends with a large wax collector plate surrounded by a scenic crown with scrolls and palmettes, (check photos for crown deficiencies and defects) which encloses the central wrought iron taproot.
A piece of great charm and decorative impact, perfect as a furnishing element in eclectic and historic interiors.
In good general vintage condition consistent with the era and use
